The absence of a match for the Saturday 2nd XI led to numbers being available for a second Sunday fixture, and Chipstead kindly agreed to host us. Whilst the result didn’t go to plan, an enjoyable day was had by all at an excellent venue with a phenomenal tea, and everyone had a chance to contribute to the match. Stoke’s Sunday XI recorded a comfortable win against a replacement opposition after The Vultures e-mailed to say they were unable to fulfil the fixture. Battersea Eagles, (a hitherto unknown quantity other than a few of them used to play League cricket at Sinjungrammarians), were the opposition of choice from the replies to the advert for a fixture, and the choice was a good one as they had similar views on the ethos of Sunday cricket to ours. Win at Woodmansterne to end the 2015 Season

Stoke survived a late scare to register a victory in the final match of the 2015 season.

On a warm and sunny late September afternoon negotiations to bat first went well for a change, (the offer of a loan fielder whilst a couple of latecomers in the home team arrived helped), so Malcolm Dickson and Moumer Khara were tasked with setting the platform in a 35 over contest. Read more
