Will Gudgeon’s tenure as Stoke Captain began with an emphatic win over near neighbours Avorians.

Firstly big props to John Vaughan-Davies for getting a strip prepared as the pre-season weather did its worst at the wrong times during the week. The result was a pitch more than fit for play, but setting a severe test of batting technique; so it was something of a surprise that visiting skipper McLaughlin chose to bat first on winning the toss. Senior Awards Night Review – Will Gudge bags two

The Evening of Saturday 29th September saw a well attended Annual Awards evening.

We opened with awards for the younger players. Olly Trower picked up the Bob Willis Cup for the most improved player, Nico Spreeth was awarded the Derek Wellman Cup, (best player in the colts’ section), and Dan Douthwaite was announced as our Surrey Trust League Player of the Year. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon’s 1st XI ended their League campaign with victory already promoted Kingstonian; in the process opening the door for Oxted & Limpsfield to win the Division 5 title with victory over Sanderstead which they duly did. Read more

Stoke’s 1st XI were back to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Mitcham at the Rec.

Choosing to bat first after the late arrival of the opposition led to a forfeiture of the toss, Stoke skipper Jack Raimondo was an early casualty when he clipped a ball from Parth Vyas to mid-wicket. Read more
