Stoke D’Abernon 127 all out (41.4 overs)
Kempton 130 for 1 (25.5 overs)
Kempton won by 9 wickets
A repeat of 2015 as Stoke’s 1st XI open this season with two defeats from two; beaten on the day by a better side but playing, when allowed, some good cricket despite the one-sidedness look of the scorecard.
Part of the League Rep’s job is to make sure we’re entered for the Surrey Championship T20 competition. Surrey are one of the participating counties in this national tournament that, if the county winners are successful, they go into the regional rounds leading to a possible finals day at a First Class County Ground televised on Sky Sports. Last year our friends and neighbours from Ashtead made it to the final; John Vaughan-Davies, (Stoke groundsman who has also played the odd game for us to show us how well our square plays!), scooped the man-of-the-match award in the semi-final.

Sanderstead 187 for 8 (50 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 8 runs
A Stoke fielding performance the polar opposite in standard of last week’s won a tight game against Sanderstead at Stoke Rec today. Had you seen the two performances, you would have hardly recognised the side in the field today.

Maori Oxshott won by 2 wickets
A tense start to the season for Stoke 1s as a terrific game of cricket that could have gone either way ended in narrow defeat at local rivals Oxshott.

A run feast at the Stoke Rec as both sides played out an exciting match to end their pre-League preparations.

This year has shown some new faces at the top of the charts; three of last year’s trophy winners, (pictured), going on to other areas of our roll of honour; Nico and Baz heading the Sunday batting and bowling for the first time. Danny D popped in for a couple of games at the end of the season, registering the highest individual innings of the year against Twickenham in one of them. Medders Snr himself put in a match double in his only League appearance, but it was Ben Holder who returned the season’s best individual bowling analyses.
