Sunday Round Up – One Win, One Loss

The week started with excellent availability to source a second fixture. The traditional number of drop outs, including four on the Saturday, one at 10.30pm and another tried to bail on the Sunday morning but was turned around, made for a bit of a late scramble but 21 players helped make two games; each side posting a similar score but with a different result. Sunday Round Up : Three matches!

Excellent availability, and most importantly received early in the week, allowed us to source two great fixtures…and in the end we played three matches! An early call could be made to secure a fixture at our friends from Sutton, and later in the week Thames Ditton binned off their original opposition when an advert for a game at the Rec was placed; technically a re-match but none of the Stoke XI that played at Giggs Hill Green a few weeks ago were in Duncan Elder’s side. Sunday Cricket : Two Wins. One run feast, one feast of insanity

Famine to feast again on the availability front and we had numbers to play two Sunday fixtures this weekend, thus avoiding the difficult decision of having to tell a handful of people that they had no game. Plans were hastily changed when the original opposition called an hour after the second fixture was booked to say they couldn’t raise a side; but we found a replacement opposition well known to us selected the sides accordingly. Sunday Defeats (x2) but two Fixtures Fulfilled

Excellent availability after last weekend’s sheets came in led to us investigating a second Sunday fixture. As appears to be the norm the pool of 25 available fell back to 18 once the fixtures had been booked(!) but planning ahead for this we booked in Battersea Eagles for the game at Stoke knowing that if we did have any availability issues, our good friend Khalid Harris would probably be able to bring a spare or two – after a ring around of our own for extra resources we sent an XI to Thames Ditton, (although the curse continued as only ten showed!), and gave Stoke debuts to two loan signings at the Rec.
