Under 13s Bounce back from Cup Defeat

Trevor Davis reviews the first week of the Under 13s season:

We completed our first weekend of the season on a high note, having lost in the Surrey Cup to a well-drilled Pyrford team on Friday night. Patrick O’Neill was definitely the pick of the players in that first game, retiring on 32 and taking 2 wickets for 13 in 4 overs. William Loughlin also weighed in well on debut, scoring 28 runs and taking 1 wicket for 36 off his 4 overs. Nevertheless, our 39 extras, (pity we couldn’t retire them on 30 too!), came back to haunt us, and we final lost by 48 runs. Read more

Under 12s out of the Cup / Missing Under 13 match report found

Friday 23rd May 2014
Mid-Surrey Colts U12 League Cup
Stoke D’Abernon U12 117 for 9 (20 overs)
Walton-on-Thames U12 120 for 4 (19.4 overs)
Walton-on-Thames U12 won by 6 wickets

Johnny Lawes has sent in the following match report:

Rory and Harry opened the batting on a very wet wicket. Rory looked on good form scoring 10 quickly but the loss of a few early wickets had us 25 for 4 at one point. Tom retired on 35 and then some quick runs at the end from Jamie, (9), Ben, (14), and Ollie, (8), gave us a very defendable total of 117. Another good effort keeping the scoring rate close to the requested 6 an over. Read more

Under 11s
Great news from Under 11s Manager Trevor Davies who writes:

“…Congratulations to Captain Tim L and all the boys who played on Friday evening, beating Leatherhead by 7 wickets despite not having our Parkside U11A team boys to call on. The game was largely won by our inspired fielding which left Leatherhead with just 6 runs from their first 4 overs, and struggling to catch up from there on in. Read more

Rod Thomson writes:

“Unfortunately we were unable to continue our good form and we lost our second game of the season today against Richmond CC.

Our Skipper Ben won the toss and elected to bat first, but we made a slow start and didn’t get going until good mid-order partnerships between Elliot, (who scored 16 off 36 balls), Ben, (11 off 27), and Jack, (21 off 18.) Our score of 96 was also greatly assisted by 41 extras (13 byes, 11 wides and 3 no balls.) Read more
