Old Emanuel won by 4 wickets
Stoke didn’t do a lot wrong in this one but there was a lot of head-scratching after a solid batting performance and a positive declaration went unrewarded. Some days you just have to say well played to the opposition.

A near perfect day for Stoke as they recorded only their second ten-wicket victory in their seven and a half years in the Surrey Championship; a player recorded a match double for the first time since 2010 and the Club’s opening partnership record in the Championship era was beaten.

The winning run for Stoke’s 1st XI continued with a six wicket over neighbours Maori Oxshott at The Rec.

Stoke D’Abernon won by 3 runs
The winning run for Stoke’s 1st XI continued with a narrow victory at Old Pauline, a step up from last week’s performance at Chertsey and a polished all-round performance in what turned out to be a very tense match that went all the way to the final ball, the hosts needing a six, (or a five), off it to win.

Stoke D’Abernon won by 3 wickets
An overcast day and a bit of grass on the “deck” made it an easy decision to bowl first on winning the toss, and that’s just what Ian Hopton did standing in for regular captain James Trower.
Winning matches is always cause for a celebration at Stoke, but we also like to share good news off the field as well.

Oxted & Limpsfield won by 7 wickets
Finally some cricket for both clubs after the recent rains, and whilst the result went to the form book, an ever enjoyable match between good friends resulted in useful time in the middle for all.
Part of the League Rep’s job is to make sure we’re entered for the Surrey Championship T20 competition. Surrey are one of the participating counties in this national tournament that, if the county winners are successful, they go into the regional rounds leading to a possible finals day at a First Class County Ground televised on Sky Sports. Last year our friends and neighbours from Ashtead made it to the final; John Vaughan-Davies, (Stoke groundsman who has also played the odd game for us to show us how well our square plays!), scooped the man-of-the-match award in the semi-final.
Our boy is on air this weekend. We’ll let him say the rest…
