Both sides went into this match needing to win and rely on results elsewhere to move up the table and it was Dorking who did everything they could do for themselves as they won by 107 runs to save themselves from relegation. Stoke’s disappointing defeat in the end was academic as Farncombe got the required victory to clinch the second promotion spot. Read more

Just one place separated the sides in the table before the start of play, and the excellent contest that wasn’t decided until the final over was reflective of how well the sides, both missing first choice players, were matched. For the third year running, CIMA sponsored a tour to the UK for twelve up and coming Canadian cricketers. Stoke’s run to the Surrey Championship T20 Finals Day last year meant a postponement of the inaugural fixture, but the teams met for a Tuesday morning match at the Stoke Rec for a highly entertaining game, followed by a lunch before the tourists set off for an afternoon match against Wimbledon. Last Sunday Jack Raimondo and Will Gudgeon shared a century partnership and Stoke won by 104 runs. History repeated itself as the in form pair, along with Adrian Mills who bagged 5 for 21, helped to set up a fourth successive win for Stoke in this annual fixture as part of Claygate’s cricket week.
