We were delighted to receive an invite from Chipstead after good availability meant we were able to advertise early for a fixture…although the ‘then unavailable’ jinx led to another late scramble to re-stock. Stoke Smash 2

After a two year break the Stoke Smash was back, bigger and better.

BACKGROUND
With the 1st XI playing all-day games, the 2s also playing at various parts of the county each week, the 3rd XI playing on out-grounds, (throw in the Sunday, Over 40s and age group matches that are also played), the chance to get everyone from all parts of the Club together is always a challenge, but this event ticks that box. Kevin’s network expanded further, resulting in a new fixture for the Over 40s, and definitely one to be repeated. Despite being minutes down the road this was the first time a Stoke senior side had visited West End Esher since 2006, (and before that 1993 in our last season in the Wey Valley League.) Read more

Stoke 6-a-side Review

A break from the normal suite of long format and T20 matches saw a cross section of the entire membership assemble at HQ for the second edition of the 6-a-side tournament expertly run by Toby Tarrant and Tom Frost. With the need to prioritise numbers for the Saturday selection this one happened late; thanks first and foremost to the ground staff for recycling a pitch that played superbly; to those who could only play Sunday being patient, others helping make the side Saturday night, the opposition hanging on for us when they could have gone elsewhere and for having some manpower on standby for us to complete our XI if needed.
