Surrey Championship T20 Entry Confirmed

Part of the League Rep’s job is to make sure we’re entered for the Surrey Championship T20 competition. Surrey are one of the participating counties in this national tournament that, if the county winners are successful, they go into the regional rounds leading to a possible finals day at a First Class County Ground televised on Sky Sports. Last year our friends and neighbours from Ashtead made it to the final; John Vaughan-Davies, (Stoke groundsman who has also played the odd game for us to show us how well our square plays!), scooped the man-of-the-match award in the semi-final.

Sunbury 125 for 9 (20 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 115 for 6 (20 overs)

Sunbury won by 10 runs

Stoke gave Premiership Sunbury an almighty fright but ultimately fell to a narrow ten run defeat in the second round of the Surrey Championship T20 competition, matters still in the balance with two balls remaining when an incredible ‘team catch’ in the deep to account for Johnny Lawes put the result beyond doubt.

Stoke D’Abernon 250 for 2 (45.1 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon, (10 points), beat Farncombe, (0 points), by 8 wickets

An opening stand of 159 between Hiken Shah, who went on to hit a Stoke career best 110, and returning captain Siddhartha Lahiri, who hit 58, set up a comprehensive eight wicket win over Farncombe at the Rec.
