Yasir Shah

Better than Yasir Shah?

After Yasir Shah’s 14 wicket haul last week an article appeared on the web, (see foot of this post), suggesting that he is probably going to be the fastest ever to take 200 Test wickets. His current count is 195 at an average of 28.23 and a strike rate of 54.45. All this from just 62 innings bowled in his 32 Test career that is just over 4 years old. Decent.

This week’s “Ask Steven” feature on CricInfo saw one follower ask:

Which bowler has the best record of hitting the stumps, given a large amount of wickets?

The answer was:

Sunday XI win at Sutton

Sutton Sunday 3rd XI 122 for 9 (45 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon Sunday XI 123 for 6 (17.2 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon won by 4 wickets

Adam Cooke reports…

Sutton won the toss and decided to bat first in overcast conditions. With the lethal combination of Dom Lloyd and Alex Bond to open the bowling runs were expected to be restricted especially with a combination of youth, enthusiasm and experience throughout the field. What was to come was unexpected to say the least. Sutton got off the mark in the 4th over and struggled to keep the run rate above two.
