Old Wimbledonians won by 90 runs
Stoke had the best of the beginning of the Nick Lo derby but in the end were well beaten.
After a two year break the Stoke Smash was back, bigger and better.
BACKGROUND
With the 1st XI playing all-day games, the 2s also playing at various parts of the county each week, the 3rd XI playing on out-grounds, (throw in the Sunday, Over 40s and age group matches that are also played), the chance to get everyone from all parts of the Club together is always a challenge, but this event ticks that box.

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 212 all out (46.1 overs)
Trinity Midwhitgiftians 2nd XI 150 all out (43 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 62 runs
After the frustration of last week Stoke’s 2nd XI ended in a similar in-game position this, but this this time got the job done with plenty of overs to spare to register a long overdue first win of the season.
A break from the normal suite of long format and T20 matches saw a cross section of the entire membership assemble at HQ for the second edition of the 6-a-side tournament expertly run by Toby Tarrant and Tom Frost. Thanks to all those who came to support, run the bar and help with all the other tasks to ensure such a successful event.

An second agonising defeat in three days for Stoke who had seemingly done the hard yards only to come up short.

Ashtead 118 for 5 (20 overs)
Ashtead won by 5 wickets
For large parts of this game Stoke didn’t have a price but testament to their refusal to give in that they took this one to the last ball and for an all too brief moment were favourites.

White ball league cricket at the Stoke Rec for the first time ever and the 1st XI registered their first win of the season with an efficient restrict and chase mission.

Epsom 1st XI won by 5 wickets
Stoke’s 1st XI completed their pre-League programme with defeat at Epsom, but a good work out for the bowlers, time in the middle for some of the batters and one or two things to work on on the admin side.

A highly entertaining encounter saw a great workout for both sides on an excellent early season pitch.
After the last round of League matches the players made it back to base from various parts of the county to celebrate the end of the League campaign that saw the 1st XI remain in Division 1 after their first ever season at that level; the 2nd XI and newly formed 3rd XI both secured promotion. To complete the senior representation there was also a full programme of Sunday XI and Over 40s fixtures…in short a record number of senior competitive games played this year.
