Stoke suffered a narrow defeat in their opening Trust League match of the year in a game they were well placed to win at drinks during the chase, then seemingly out of it five overs later, but then almost pulling off the improbable with Club competition record 9th and 10th wicket partnerships.

The ground pulled up OK, Hoppy & Shawn reporting early to work on a wet patch to ensure the start was only slightly delayed.

Of the 181 bowlers who have so far taken 100 or more Test wickets, the two with the highest percentage of bowled dismissals are the 19th-century England pair of George Lohmann, with 51 out of 112, or 45.53% bowled, and Johnny Briggs, with 52 out of 118, (44.06%)
