Batting first, Stoke openers Nico Spreeth and Baz Medlycott made steady progress, adding 38 at 4s before both fell in successive overs; Medlycott bowled repeating a shot that brought him runs the ball before; Spreeth, (17), was leg-before to left-armer Hallam who was his usual competitive but good-natured self throughout. Stoke’s Sunday XI continued their winning run with a successful run chase at the Rec. Firstly some massive votes of thanks : to Jo Patrick for sorting a tea a late notice after some late selection changes across the two Sunday sides; to Andy Page for running the game, and to Will Thomson for sourcing two last minute call-ups to complete the side and save Chris Finch, (who forgot it was his birthday when he gave his availability), a long trip to Stoke. Stoke and Walton played a return T20 friendly, firstly to continue burgeoning relations between the clubs, and secondly to get some time in the middle ahead of the forthcoming weekend’s fixtures after the weekend rain accounted for all the Saturday and Sunday action. Read more
