Stoke’s Sunday XI paid the penalty for not batting their overs; but a spirited bowling and fielding display almost turned a total probably 100 below par into a winning one.

A match where the balance of power ebbed and flowed throughout ended in draw.
Batting first, Stoke openers Nico Spreeth and Baz Medlycott made steady progress, adding 38 at 4s before both fell in successive overs; Medlycott bowled repeating a shot that brought him runs the ball before; Spreeth, (17), was leg-before to left-armer Hallam who was his usual competitive but good-natured self throughout.

Stoke D’Abernon won by 95 runs
Three half centuries and two century partnerships help set up a good win for Stoke at Master Park.
Overnight rain was certain to make batting conditions tricky early on, but a Stoke side containing more 1st XI players than the opposition, whose 1s were away on a training camp, batted first.
Following on from our article about record partnerships, the Century Partnerships put together this year have now been added to the list and checked by Po.
Messers Handel, Gudgeon, Taylor, Hopton, Gray, McMillan, John, Corbishley, Singh, Routley, Connell, Douthwaite and Trower make the list year, some of them more than once.

Stoke’s Sunday XI squandered an excellent platform set by Raja Singh, (31), and Greg Routley, (72 from 45 with eight fours and four sixes), who added 101 for the 2nd wicket after batting first on winning the toss.

Stoke D’Abernon 3rd XI won by 10 wickets
A super-human effort to round up players led to Stoke raising an extra Saturday side, and we received an invite from Chessington who despite advertising themselves as weak chose to bat.

Stoke’s Sunday XI continued their winning run with a successful run chase at the Rec. Firstly some massive votes of thanks : to Jo Patrick for sorting a tea a late notice after some late selection changes across the two Sunday sides; to Andy Page for running the game, and to Will Thomson for sourcing two last minute call-ups to complete the side and save Chris Finch, (who forgot it was his birthday when he gave his availability), a long trip to Stoke.

Victory target achieved after 7.5 overs but captains agree to continuation of Walton innings
Stoke and Walton played a return T20 friendly, firstly to continue burgeoning relations between the clubs, and secondly to get some time in the middle ahead of the forthcoming weekend’s fixtures after the weekend rain accounted for all the Saturday and Sunday action.

Stoke and Claygate played out their annual T20 match in glorious early & late evening sunshine at the Claygate Rec.
Pre-match negotiations led to Stoke batting first, (in accordance with the laws of the game to constitute a match there was a toss, and avid followers of our site can assume who lost it), and Adrian Taylor and Dom Morley took strike.
