From Monday to Thursday, the rain was pouring down and the ‘Stoke Smash’ organising committee was contemplating a myriad of actions, including postponement, using the astro pitch for the match and renting a dozen gazebos to keep people dry. Read more

Colts Awards – Sunday 3rd

Whilst the Sunday XI were taking care of business in Thames Ditton, the Colts’ awards were being handed out at HQ.

A good event considering the weather. Approximately 100 turned up, including some brave hungover seniors; Ian Hopton, Shawn Dyson, Dan Gluckman, Tom Frost, Will Frost, James Trower, Max Subba Row, Andy Berry, Jack Raimondo and Charlie Hill. Read more

Former Stoke opponents in Big Bash and Ranji action

With SDCC missing the New Year due to being in hyper-sleep following his latest bout of cellulitis, his team of spies were on the look-out for things of interest around the world, and they didn’t disappoint.

The Prawn Lover spotted Sam Whiteman playing in the Big Bash League. Whiteman was a Weybridge player in 2010 when he lined up in their Trust League XI : http://sdacc.play-cricket.com/website/results/1327532 – yep he may have scored 91 that day, but he was becalmed by an emerging Alex Bond, then dismissed by a c T.Frost b Handel combination. Stokers on the Outfield at the Oval Test

An incredibly fortunate group of young Stokers had the time of their lives last Friday, not only attending the final Test Match but also getting to play at the Oval in front of a 23500 sell out Ashes crowd, a memory they will all cherish.

Courtesy of Stoke D’Abernon CC and the Surrey Cricket Foundation ten colts ranging from U7 up to U11 received match tickets in the family stand and participated in a Kwik Cricket demonstration on the outfield during the lunch interval. Read more
