At tea, what was expected to be a comfortable win having dismissed a ten man opposition for 95 in just 27.3 overs, was anything but. An unbroken club Surrey Trust League record 9th wicket stand of 33 between Nico Spreeth, (13no), and Alex Bond, (25no), saw Stoke home.

Stoke 2s recorded a confidence boosting win on Saturday at Chessington to take them above their opponents in the league table. Stand in skipper Pagie oversaw another lost toss, but this time we were asked to field first.

A second T20 match in the space of 48 hours for Stoke ended in defeat, but decent bar takings and a chance for the 1st XI squad to wind down with some cricket to watch after their training session more than justified the effort to get the game on.

Half centuries for Nick Lo and Dan Douthwaite, and a three wicket burst after tea from Alex Bond proved to be the difference as Stoke avenged last season’s defeat to Claygate in emphatic style.

Jase Earl and Malcolm Dickson starred with ball and bat respectively as Stoke’s Sunday XI scored a commanding victory over Newdigate in a 10-a-side contest, both sides feeling the pinch in resources due to Fathers’ Day and the need to fulfil an additional Surrey Trust League fixture.
