A majestic century from Hiken Shah backed up an efficient bowling display as a depleted Stoke side cruised to a six wicket win over Godalming at the Rec. Player unavailability, notably due to exam commitments, led to a new look Sunday XI taking the field for the first fixture of the season.

Dan Douthwaite, Donovan Hall and Rowland Prytherch were given club debuts, and all three left positive entries on the scorecard by the time stumps were drawn. Stoke were unable to force a win due to lower order resistance on a very slow pitch, (just 153 runs were scored off the bat in 78.3 overs for the loss of 20 wickets on the same strip the previous day.)
