League Dinner

Yesterday evening Stokers were out in force at The Oval for the 49th Surrey Championship Annual Dinner.

Sat at one table, (pictured), were Toby Tarrant, (who doubled up as our other table’s wine waiter for part of the evening – see below), Will Frost, Dan Gluckman, Charlie Hill, James Trower, James Whitmarsh, Jack Raimondo and Will Gudgeon. Will also brought along a newbie for next year in the form of his mate Kane. It was great to see Billy Newman there too who we hope to see back on the field next season. Read more

Worcester Park won by 45 runs

The loss of six wickets in ten overs after drinks was costly for the Sunday XI as they failed to chase down a moderate total set by the Worcester Park who snapped up the fixture having lost their original one. Read more

Spreeth carries bat for career best as Sunday XI beat Old As

Good Bank Holiday availability meant that an advert could be placed early for an extra fixture this weekend and pleasingly our friends from Old Ashfordians called to say they were also looking for a game. Read more

Hampton Hill made a welcome return to the Stoke Rec after a number of years of being off the card, we speculated that it was the lengthening of the League programme in the mid-1990s that meant something had to give. (One of the opposition remembered the old changing rooms being behind the bowler’s arm at the Blundell Lane end the last time he played here, and was unaware of the current clubhouse being where it is today!)
