2nd XI open their account with a bonus point win over Horsley & Send

Stoke’s second string had a similar total to chase as their buddies from the 1s, and were also successful, passing Horsley & Send’s total with more than seven overs to spare to open their account for the season with a bonus point win. Read more

Stoke’s second string suffered defeat in the reverse fixture, but took many positives in defeat.

For the second week running, late drop-outs affected the selection; but a committed fielding effort, one man light, restricted the hosts to 187 for 8 in their allotted overs. Read more

Will Gudgeon’s tenure as Stoke Captain began with an emphatic win over near neighbours Avorians.

Firstly big props to John Vaughan-Davies for getting a strip prepared as the pre-season weather did its worst at the wrong times during the week. The result was a pitch more than fit for play, but setting a severe test of batting technique; so it was something of a surprise that visiting skipper McLaughlin chose to bat first on winning the toss. Stoke 2s finally started the season, (after we lost count of how many rain offs we’ve had), with a battling win against Chessington which showed the fighting quality we have in the side. Read more

Whilst the weather continues to do its worst SDCC has been contacting a few clubs for some missing results to complete the club records.

Byfleet CC have kindly send us a copy of their scorebook from the 1999 season; a game where Stoke stalwart and then 2s captain Keith Watson, recognised more for his batting expolits, (over 6000 runs with four centuries…and a 99 – http://sdacc.play-cricket.com/profile/statistics.asp?id=84996), turned his arm over and ran through the Byfleet order, registering the Division’s best bowling figures for that season: Read more
