Stokers Better/Worse than Virat Kohli

This week’s Ask Steven column on CricInfo looked at one of the poorer sides of Virat Kohli’s game. The question and the answer was:

Q : Does Virat Kohli have the worst average for anyone who has bowled more than 100 overs in ODIs?

A : Virat Kohli has so far taken four wickets in one-day internationals, for an average of 166.25. That is indeed the highest average for anyone who has bowled more than 100 overs. Next comes an Indian captain of a much earlier vintage, S Venkataraghavan, whose five ODI wickets cost him 108.40 apiece. Pommie Mbwangwa of Zimbabwe, (11 wickets at 103.63), also ended up with a three-figure average.

Stoke D’Abernon’s 1st XI have completed near on three seasons in the Surrey Championship, but it will be many years before a result like this will ever be repeated, if ever.

Wimbledon won by 5 wickets

More semi-final agony for Stoke’s Academy as they suffered a fourth defeat in as many attempts in just five seasons of participation in the Surrey Trust League. However they pushed a well-drilled Wimbledon all the way with a committed bowling and fielding display after posting a sub-par total.

Chipstead Coulsdon and Walcountians, (9 points), beat Stoke D’Abernon, (0 points), by 5 runs

Stoke’s slim chances of promotion from Division 5 were finally ended by a torrential downpour mid-way through their run chase leaving them six runs short of the requisite total after 22.2 overs. At the same time, the ‘win’ points gained by Chipstead were enough to secure them a deserved promotion of their own.

Having thrashed Chertsey in the previous week’s match, Stoke’s 1st XI took their good form in to this week’s match at Thames Ditton, comprehensively outplaying their opponents to secure a 9 wicket victory.

Stoke’s Academy registered their highest ever score in the Surrey Trust League en route to registering a 104-run victory against nine-man Burgess Park, who were weakened by match commitments elsewhere.
