Career Runs in Sixes

Mr Handel from Cobham contacted the Club to ask what proportion of runs he and his peers have made in 6s. In some rare down-time over the Christmas period we’ve now managed to put a couple of things together that we hope answers his query.

Of the players that played in 2018, here are the percentages of their career runs for the Club in sixes. To make this list you must have hit a minimum of eight career sixes and scored a minimum of 150 runs for the Club: Read more

Stoke D’Abernon Advent Calendar 2016 (11)

11 is for “My Greatest XI”

Listening to an old audio-book of Richie Benaud’s, in it he devotes a couple of chapters to what he calls “My Greatest XI.” By his definition they had to:

* Be brilliant cricketers, characters and good mixers on & off the pitch as they would be representing him.
* Have a beneficial effect on the game, be champions and have left an influence on cricket.
* Play on good pitches with pace, good for shots and fast bowlers, with spin to come into the game later on. Read more

Stoke’s second string did well to restrict a deep Alleyn & Honor Oak batting line up to 233 for 8 from 50 overs. Gary Harkett registered miserly figures of 10-3-18-2, the returning John Crisp took 3 for 61, Andy Page 2 for 42 and Moumer Khara 1 for 52. Read more

The same old story for Stoke’s second string. A committed bowling and fielding performance restricted Chipstead to 181 all out on a good pitch; highlights being a sensation catch in the deep by Tom Gudgeon and three catches at the wicket for Malcolm Dickson, who reached 100 career dismissals with the first of them. An incredilble day and experience, from the fantastic weather, to the streets lined by the throngs of supporters and bands. Read more
