Surrey Championship T20 Entry Confirmed

Part of the League Rep’s job is to make sure we’re entered for the Surrey Championship T20 competition. Surrey are one of the participating counties in this national tournament that, if the county winners are successful, they go into the regional rounds leading to a possible finals day at a First Class County Ground televised on Sky Sports. Last year our friends and neighbours from Ashtead made it to the final; John Vaughan-Davies, (Stoke groundsman who has also played the odd game for us to show us how well our square plays!), scooped the man-of-the-match award in the semi-final. With an hour of the match to go this game seemed destined to be a dull draw; but it sparked into life in the closing overs. Stoke were unable to force a win, but showed signs of edging back to their best as a few familiar faces returned to the ranks. Read more

Dorking 206 for 9 (50 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 99 all out (30.1 overs)

Dorking, (10 points), beat Stoke D’Abernon, (0 points), by 107 runs

Both sides went into this match needing to win and rely on results elsewhere to move up the table and it was Dorking who did everything they could do for themselves as they won by 107 runs to save themselves from relegation. Stoke’s disappointing defeat in the end was academic as Farncombe got the required victory to clinch the second promotion spot. Read more

Dulwich beat Stoke D’Abernon by 155 runs

For the third time in four years Stoke’s Academy suffered heartbreak at the semi-final stage of the Surrey Trust League. The class of 2010, qualified in second place in their zone, but ran into defending Wasim Raja Shield winners Dulwich determined to retain their crown. Read more
