An increased turnout for this year’s AGM; a few watched the rugby ahead of the main event…

Clear the Beer II (1)

…and many more stopped back to have a few beers and some food afterwards.

Applying an ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach following our excellent 2016 season, most of the roles and responsibilities for 2017 remain unchanged. James Trower continues as Club Captain, likewise Jase Earl retains his role skippering the 2nd XI. Read more

Over 40s In Pre-Season

For years Stoke has offered cricket for everyone; 1s, 2s, 3s, Sunday XI, age group from U7-U17, Surrey Trust League, Under 19 T20 Blast, Friendly T20 & Long-Format, Women & Girls T20 & Long-Format to name just a few.

In 2016 an Over 40s squad was assembled for the first time. Affectionately known as “Dads & Pads” and made up mainly of colts’ parents, (but anyone over the age of 40 is welcome to join in and having children is not a pre-requisite!), the team defeated the mighty Weybridge in their inaugural match last May. League Dinner

Yesterday evening Stokers were out in force at The Oval for the 49th Surrey Championship Annual Dinner.

Will also brought along a newbie for next year in the form of his mate Kane. It was great to see Billy Newman there too who we hope to see back on the field next season. Read more

Narrow Defeat for the 1st XI

Saturday 6th August 2016
Travelbag Surrey Championship – Division 5
Maori Oxshott 173 for 8 (50 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 171 all out (49.2 overs)
Maori Oxshott won by 2 runs

The craziest of Division 5s took another twist as Stoke, looking to win to keep their promotion hopes on course and effectively end Oxshott’s, failed to get over the line and in doing so introduced Oxshott themselves to the race for 2nd place, which still has no clear front-runner as the sides immediately above them all lost as well.
