Saturday saw the latest Quiz Night at the Club that was well attended with a good spread of ages and representation from the various sections.
Quiz Master Peter Andrew did a tremendous job as always, this year showing a never before seen, (or needed), talent for crowd control with a group of well-oiled 1st XI players carrying on their day after the rugby and other various sporting & social events!
This week’s “Ask Steven” feature on CricInfo saw one follower ask:
Which bowler has the best record of hitting the stumps, given a large amount of wickets?
The answer was:
Of the 181 bowlers who have so far taken 100 or more Test wickets, the two with the highest percentage of bowled dismissals are the 19th-century England pair of George Lohmann, with 51 out of 112, or 45.53% bowled, and Johnny Briggs, with 52 out of 118, (44.06%)
In last week’s “Ask Steven” section on CricInfo “Irfan” from Pakistan asked:
I noticed that Ajit Agarkar has a Test batting average of 16.79 despite having a century to his name. Is this the lowest Test batting average to include a century?

In, (probably), our final match of the season we travelled to Woodmansterne and played out an enjoyable, yet unusually one-sided, match on a lovely September afternoon.
Two weeks ago a large section of Stoke players and supporters were at Ripley to celebrate a 2nd XI win that completed a DOUBLE PROMOTION for both our Saturday League sides.

With decent availability for a Sunday fixture Old Wimbledonians were quick to snap us up when we placed our advert and the sides played out a fun game on a cold-ish day, Stoke emerging victorious just as the rains came. Well done to the home captain for getting the forecast just right!
Whilst the Sunday XI were taking care of business in Thames Ditton, the Colts’ awards were being handed out at HQ.
A good event considering the weather. Approximately 100 turned up, including some brave hungover seniors; Ian Hopton, Shawn Dyson, Dan Gluckman, Tom Frost, Will Frost, James Trower, Max Subba Row, Andy Berry, Jack Raimondo and Charlie Hill.
