The SDCC 2011 Under 18 season finally got under way last Sunday morning v Ashtead CC. The start of the season signalled the end of the British summer and a grey, cold, overcast morning welcomed SDCC to the Headley CC ground. The recent lack of rain was very evident. The wicket was almost devoid of grass and very dusty, while the outfield was barely green, uneven and very fast. The Headley ground is quite small, so potentially a high scoring match was in the offing. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon 142 all out (34.3 overs)

Dulwich beat Stoke D’Abernon by 155 runs

For the third time in four years Stoke’s Academy suffered heartbreak at the semi-final stage of the Surrey Trust League. The class of 2010, qualified in second place in their zone, but ran into defending Wasim Raja Shield winners Dulwich determined to retain their crown. Read more

For the third year running, CIMA sponsored a tour to the UK for twelve up and coming Canadian cricketers. Stoke’s run to the Surrey Championship T20 Finals Day last year meant a postponement of the inaugural fixture, but the teams met for a Tuesday morning match at the Stoke Rec for a highly entertaining game, followed by a lunch before the tourists set off for an afternoon match against Wimbledon. It would have been easy for Stoke to have contacted Ashtead in the wake of the previous day’s deluge to say that the pitch was unplayable, thus leaving Stoke as the winners of the zonal group and consigning Ashtead to the Plate competition semi-finals. Read more

Stoke’s Academy qualified for one of the Surrey Trust League competition semi-finals with victory at Beddington. Victory over Ashtead at the Rec in their final zonal match will see them qualify for the main competition semi-finals as zone winners. Ashtead, however, have the same brief. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI, (10 points), beat Old Pauline 2nd XI, (0 points), on faster scoring rate

An all-round team effort saw Stoke’s 2nd XI retain top spot in Division 5 with a rain affected win against Old Paulines; the heavens opening with Stoke just 27 runs short of outright victory, but comfortably ahead of the required score with wickets in hand. Read more

There was another crushing win for Stoke’s Academy over near-neighbours Thames Ditton to put pressure on the leaders at the top of their Surrey Trust League zone. Read more
