Stoke’s Sunday XI don’t play many away fixtures but this is one that we always book in every year as traditionally like-minded sides always play out a high-spirited encounter at a picturesque ground. The teas are second only to Jo’s so always worth the trip. This year was no exception. Read more

Before reading on a massive vote of thanks to Maori Oxshott for hosting this fixture. Stoke were starved of friendly T20 action having had both oppositions from last week scratch due to lack of numbers. Oxshott did, in fact, raise a side at very short notice to replace one of them last week, only for both sides to be beaten by the weather, but undeterred the clubs raised sides again. Read more

Record Partnership at the Weekend

With all the celebrations at Stoke and in Coventry at the weekend, there was a slight delay in catching up with the admin, press reporting, records maintenance, etc. Time to catch up…

The match-winning unbroken partnership of 80 between James Corbishley and Matt Gottschalk against Godalming was a club record in the Surrey Championship, beating the one set in 2009 when Andy Page and Will Frost put on 77 against Wallington in May of that year. A snap shower ended a fascinatingly poised match early at the Rec.

Stoke batted first on winning the toss and although most of the top-order batsmen got starts only Andrew Somerville, (54), and Ollie John, who looked very good until his progress was cut short on 21, made it past twenty. Chris Finch made 30 down the order to get the total up to 202. Read more

A glorious sunny evening in Claygate and Stoke continued their winning run in friendly cricket.

The hosts deviated from tradition and elected to bat first on winning the toss, although this owed to not having a full compliment at the start time – indeed the match kicked off late as latecomers were given every chance to change. Read more
