Senior Awards Night Review – Will Gudge bags two

The Evening of Saturday 29th September saw a well attended Annual Awards evening.

We opened with awards for the younger players. Olly Trower picked up the Bob Willis Cup for the most improved player, Nico Spreeth was awarded the Derek Wellman Cup, (best player in the colts’ section), and Dan Douthwaite was announced as our Surrey Trust League Player of the Year. Read more

A first century for Stoke for Nick Lo as the Sunday XI racked up a season’s best total of 236 for 4, but were denied a victory as lower order resistance from a couple of former Stoke players and a benign pitch led to a drawn match. Read more

Jase Earl and Malcolm Dickson starred with ball and bat respectively as Stoke’s Sunday XI scored a commanding victory over Newdigate in a 10-a-side contest, both sides feeling the pinch in resources due to Fathers’ Day and the need to fulfil an additional Surrey Trust League fixture. Read more

Awards Night Review

On Saturday 1st October at the Clubhouse, Stoke celebrated the 2011 season with a host of awards.

Chairman & Secretary duo Drew & Jo Patrick kindly supplied a fish and chip supper for those who attended, (double-portions on offer for the hungry ones!), and the bar takings were healthy again. Read more

On a hot day Stoke’s Sunday Xl made a long journey to play a friendly against Ewhurst. Steve Finch called incorrectly but Ewhurst elected to bat on a green track which provided everything for both bowlers and batters in a 40-over match. Read more

2nd XI lose to Old Ruts 2s

The 2nd XI suffered defeat against Old Ruts 2s after being shot out for just 134. After a reasonably solid start we lost 3 wickets with the score at 47. The hosts capitalised on our batting struggles and only Greg was able to break the shackles with a series of powerful boundaries, scoring 40 in just 27 balls. We were all out for 134. The hosts’ bowling was impressive, especially from Fawad (4-26) and Fox (3-6). Read more
