So we’re about to start our 11th season in the Surrey Championship, and our first in Division 2 after three successive promotions.

Whilst our progress through the divisions has relied on a combination of batting, bowling, fielding and keeping excellences, not to mention tremendous team spirit and the support network behind the scenes; an article on CricInfo appeared in the off-season penned by Anantha Narayanan who chose to look at the role played by the bowlers in the success of any team. Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 5 wickets

Stoke’s 2nd XI recorded their first win of the season at the third attempt with a five wicket victory over Alleyn, moving above them in the table in the process. Read more

Hampton Wick Royal 2nd XI won by 2 wickets

For the second week running Stoke lost the last quarter of the match and the points having been in control for the majority of the rest. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon Advent Calendar 2016 (16)

Sixteen different players appeared in what turned out to be a reduced Under 19 T20 Blast programme in 2016, availability savaged by injuries and holiday commitments. Nevertheless when the squad took the field they showed growth and learning that they took into their weekend longer format cricket. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd won by 7 wickets

A second successive win for the 2nd XI has moved them above their opponents in the table and has secured Division 4 status for another season. Read more

Sinjungrammarians 260 for 9 (50 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 38 runs

Stoke’s 2nd XI moved themselves away from the relegation place with a high-scoring win over Sinjungrammarians. 550 runs were scored for the loss of 16 wickets during the course of an eventful afternoon. Read more

Stoke Slayers won by 8 wickets

Stoke’s stop-start Under 19 T20 Blast campaign finally got going again, and their points total and net-run-rate received a nice shot in the arm with an efficient win at Oxshott; untidy in places, notably the extras conceded count, but overall whole a very good night’s work. Read more
