Stoke’s Academy won their Surrey Trust League zone with victory over Alleyn & Honor Oak.

At tea, what was expected to be a comfortable win having dismissed a ten man opposition for 95 in just 27.3 overs, was anything but. An unbroken club Surrey Trust League record 9th wicket stand of 33 between Nico Spreeth, (13no), and Alex Bond, (25no), saw Stoke home. Read more

Stoke’s Sunday XI continued their unbeaten start to the season with a seven wicket win over Giltec.

Dan Gluckman took four wickets; Adrian Mills and Dom Lloyd two each, (Lloyd also effected a run out), and there was a first wicket in senior cricket for Dan Douthwaite, courtesy of an incredible diving catch from Rod Thomson, as the visitors didn’t make the best use of the strip Hiken Shah scored a ton on the previous day after winning the toss. Cooke’s victory with the coin resulted in Stoke batting first on an unpredictable and low bouncing pitch. Winty and Cookie opened up but wasn’t long before the bounce deceived both batsmen. Winty fell LBW for 2 and Cooke only last a few more balls, including a well executed on-drive, before getting bowled by skiddy delivery for 4. Read more

On Saturday and Sunday – on the same strip – a Stoke XI won by one wicket, registering a total of 113 for 9 in response to a visiting team’s total of 112 all out. Even more spookily, Stoke faced 31.2 overs on both days! Read more
