Stoke made good starts in both innings but lost both middle over sections, largely due to the opposition captain who grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck to boost his own side’s survival chances, and an eleven game unbeaten run came to an end.

Academy Lose in Record STL Match Aggregate

Stoke D’Abernon 281 all out (38.4 overs)
Godalming won by 39 runs

A much-changed Academy side from the one defeated two weeks ago was unable to reverse that result, and came second in a boundary hitting competition on another hot afternoon. The match aggregate of 601 runs was the highest in any Trust League match Stoke have played in.

‘Winning Draw’ to Chessington 2nd XI

This wasn’t a ‘must win’ but Stoke’s 2nd XI could only manage a losing draw at relegation threatened Chessington and now need to find some wins quickly with games running out.

Trust League defeat at Walton

While England were hitting Panama for six in Russia, before the World Cup draw was made last winter the Trust League fixture computer got in first and allocated us fixture at Walton-on-Thames. Will T and the Team Sec worked tirelessly through the week to assemble an XI. Thanks to all those who helped with an appearance – we had no game without you. The opposition had an U21 AND a Development Trust XI team to find(!) and with priority going to the U21 League Stoke faced a team of nine.
