Kohli v Stoke (2) : Consecutive 20+ Scores

India drew first blood in the Test Series this week despite a moderate contribution from Virat Kohli. However Virat added another impressive stat to his CV recently in the ODI series against the West Indies where, having made 157 not out, he made an eighteenth successive score of 20 or more in ODIs, (passing Matthew Hayden’s run of 17 20+ scores in 2007.) He then extended his run to nineteen with 107 in the next match before finally falling for 16 in Mumbai. Twelve of Virat’s knocks were also over 50, (8×100, 4×50.) Read more

Last week’s Ask Steven column on CricInfo looked at people who opened the batting and the bowling in the same ODI. The question and the answer was:

Q : Mehidy Hasan opened the batting and bowling for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup final. How many times has this happened? Read more

Trust League defeat at Old Ruts

Surrey Trust League
Old Rutlishians 280 for 8 (40 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 158 for 9 (40 overs)
Old Rutlishians won by 122 runs

Match Report by Will Thomson…

Our penultimate Trust League fixture of the season saw a youthful Stoke side run into a well-drilled, more experienced Old Ruts side. Whilst the 122 run loss did show that Stoke still have work to do to compete with some of the bigger clubs, we perhaps deserved more having toiled in the field on a hot day after been asked to bowl first. Stoke weaken their Academy side but still win big

Sunday 24th July 2016
Surrey Trust League Surrey – Zone 2
Stoke D’Abernon 275 for 7 (40 overs)
Epsom 107 all out (23.5 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 178 runs

Firstly some more kudos for Stoke – and Epsom – for going ahead with this game. Epsom contacted us to say they were a little weak but Stoke agreed to manage the game accordingly and sat down a couple of 1st XI players from their original line-up. Read more

T20 Friendly
Sutton U17 147 for 8 (20 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 138 for 9 (20 Overs)
Sutton Under 17s won by 9 runs

Great relations between Stoke and Sutton were further enhanced as both Clubs got a game on despite Stoke not having enough Under 17s, (due to holidays), to play the original cup tie. The Stokers originally selected, (many well under the age of 17), were supplemented by some senior assistance from Rod, Ralphie and Charlie Thomas. Read more
