Congrats to Duncs for making it on to the Surrey Bowling Honours Board for his spell of 7 for 44 to help us beat Ripley last Saturday.

Surrey Trust League
Malden Wanderers 143 all out (38.3 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 146 for 1 (26.2 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 9 wickets

“We got schooled” was the verdict of the Malden Wanderers coach as Stoke’s Academy commenced their 2016 Surrey Trust League campaign with a commanding performance at the Rec. The visitors were only able to fulfil the fixture after their Under 15s match was cancelled, and their young side ran into a well-drilled Stoke unit that was a little older and stronger all round. Surrey Championship T20 Entry Confirmed

Part of the League Rep’s job is to make sure we’re entered for the Surrey Championship T20 competition. Surrey are one of the participating counties in this national tournament that, if the county winners are successful, they go into the regional rounds leading to a possible finals day at a First Class County Ground televised on Sky Sports. Last year our friends and neighbours from Ashtead made it to the final; John Vaughan-Davies, (Stoke groundsman who has also played the odd game for us to show us how well our square plays!), scooped the man-of-the-match award in the semi-final. Since the tournament’s inception in 2014 Stoke have only lost four of these games, but all of them have been in the last over, and the continuation of this trend leaves qualification for the next phase of the Under 19 T20 Blast potentially coming down to net-run-rate after a defeat to one of the competition’s stronger teams. Nat West Under 19 T20 Blast
Stoke Slayers 187 for 7 (20 overs)
Walton Warriors 96 all out (16.2 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 91 runs

Stoke’s first away mission in this year’s Under 19 T20 Blast was a successful one with a big win at Walton. It was Walton’s first game of the competition and they put on a great match-day experience with music over the tannoy between overs, when boundaries were hit or wickets fell, (an enthusiastic DJ added to the fun), and a BBQ that ran throughout the match.
