Stoke’s 2nd XI hauled themselves out of the relegation places with a big win over Ashford at the Rec; Stoke perhaps fortunate to catch Ashford in a week of poor availability for the second time this season, (the visitors started with nine in the field and only ten played), but this was still a clinical display. Jase inspires incredible 2s win at Camberley

Stoke’s 2nd XI were staring virtual relegation in the face with ten overs of this match to go, but staged a remarkable and courageous late effort to keep themselves alive at picturesque Camberley. Read more

Record Partnership at the Weekend

With all the celebrations at Stoke and in Coventry at the weekend, there was a slight delay in catching up with the admin, press reporting, records maintenance, etc. Time to catch up…

The match-winning unbroken partnership of 80 between James Corbishley and Matt Gottschalk against Godalming was a club record in the Surrey Championship, beating the one set in 2009 when Andy Page and Will Frost put on 77 against Wallington in May of that year. Sunday XI complete the double over the Old Ashfordians

Stoke’s Sunday XI continued their winning run with a successful run chase at the Rec. Firstly some massive votes of thanks : to Jo Patrick for sorting a tea a late notice after some late selection changes across the two Sunday sides; to Andy Page for running the game, and to Will Thomson for sourcing two last minute call-ups to complete the side and save Chris Finch, (who forgot it was his birthday when he gave his availability), a long trip to Stoke. 2nd XI lose their way at Esher

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 107 all out (43.2 overs)
Esher 2nd XI won by 63 runs

Stoke’s second string held the upper hand for the first third of this contest, but ended up well-beaten by league leaders Esher who for the second week running owed a debt of gratitude to their tailenders. Read more
