A marked improvement on last week’s performance for the Sunday XI.

In the end the team were left to rue a shortage of runs again, but they made Oxshott work very hard for the win, and it took three of their players to register career best scores to get the job done. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon 148 all out (39.3 overs)

An uncharacteristic performance by Stoke’s Sunday XI saw them crash to a nine wicket defeat to new opponents Odney who enquired about a fixture last weekend but were just too late. This week they got in early when we placed our ad and brought a very sociable side along who stayed behind quite a while afterwards. Read more

Kohli v Stoke (2) : Consecutive 20+ Scores

India drew first blood in the Test Series this week despite a moderate contribution from Virat Kohli. However Virat added another impressive stat to his CV recently in the ODI series against the West Indies where, having made 157 not out, he made an eighteenth successive score of 20 or more in ODIs, (passing Matthew Hayden’s run of 17 20+ scores in 2007.) He then extended his run to nineteen with 107 in the next match before finally falling for 16 in Mumbai. Twelve of Virat’s knocks were also over 50, (8×100, 4×50.) Read more

Centuries on Debut / Time Taken to Make First Hundred

Ben Foakes made a century in his first Test innings last week, and this fitted in nicely with some other analysis we were doing after CricInfo were asked to look at one or two things by their followers.

Four Stokers have made a century on their debut, (in Claire Trafford’s case she arrived on the scene with a score of 213 not out!), and many others have got to three figures in pretty quick time. Read more

Friendly
Stoke D’Abernon 220 for 5 (40 overs)
Maori Oxshott 222 for 5 (38.4 overs)
Maori Oxshott won by 4 wickets

With the clubs in different divisions in League cricket and the pre-season friendly wiped out by rain it took until mid-September to play a game against our friends and neighbours this year. It was worth the wait, though, as the sides played out an enjoyable match. Stoke took this one deep but the home side timed their run chase well with former Stoker George Depree pulling a six to win to and end his reign as Maori Oxshott’s Sunday skipper. Read more

Two Sunday XI Matches – Two Wins! – President 85*

Sunday 9th September 2018
Incredible availability meant that we needed to source an additional Sunday fixture to the one already in the card against Kingstonian. Our friends from Whiteley Village had an ad on the board, and a call to them resulted in a second game being agreed meaning everyone who was available at the time got a chance to play. Read more
