Stoke suffered a narrow defeat in their opening Trust League match of the year in a game they were well placed to win at drinks during the chase, then seemingly out of it five overs later, but then almost pulling off the improbable with Club competition record 9th and 10th wicket partnerships. A new look Sunday XI including a number of exciting prospects from our Academy scored a good win in a match that wasn’t arranged until Saturday morning, then was under threat due to the previous day’s rains. The ground pulled up OK, Hoppy & Shawn reporting early to work on a wet patch to ensure the start was only slightly delayed. Read more

Good availability for the League sides provided an opportunity to play an additional friendly match. In the end, numbers fell back after demands for players higher up the chain, another also pulled out two after confirming he was available; but Stoke still managed to get a team of ten and nearly pulled off a great win. Trust League Defeat to Dulwich / Under 19 T20 News

Dulwich won by 7 wickets

Stoke went into their final zonal match unable to qualify for either of the semi-final competitions, but they had a direct influence on the final positions in the table as a win over leaders Dulwich would have opened the door for the winners of the Ashtead v Wimbledon match to top the group. A 65-ball century, (eventually out for 121 off 79), from Alastair Curran helped set up a great win for 10-player Stoke at Worcester Park. (Note not ten-man here as Anya Devon-Berry created a bit of history by being the first female player to play Under 21 Trust League cricket for the Club.) Read more

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 32 runs (Revised target of 203 in 43 overs)

Stoke started the day at the bottom of a group of hopefuls for the second promotion spot along with runaway leaders Chessington, and did their cause no harm when the XI, missing a few first choice players including the Captain and Vice Captain, scored a superb win having lost the toss. Read more
