Surrey Trust League

Spencer 260 for 9 (40 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 128 all out (29.3 overs)

Spencer, (4 points), beat Stoke D’Abernon, (0 points), by 132 runs

With a certain football event happening at the same time as this match, Stoke’s resources at Academy level were stretched to the limit; less of a problem for the opposition who had over 700 colts to select from for this match. Read more

Under 17s brought back to earth by Walton-on-Thames

Tim Dyer writes…

Oh dear, the wheels fell off in fairly spectacular fashion!

From the highs of Weybridge to the lows of Walton, nothing went right from the toss onwards.

It was a long day but great fun and boys were a credit to the club.” Read more

Alex Bond led the Stoke bowling effort with 3 for 32 from ten overs. Rod Thomson, (2-15), took his first wickets for the club and there was a wicket each for Richie Parrett, Sam Bradford-Smith and 1st XI keeper batsman Tom Frost who would have taken notes on the stumping off his bowling by Rick Mustill! The two openers, Tom Frost and Alex Bond, both bowled well with figures of 6-2-12-1 and 6-1-18-2 respectively. First change pair of Andy Page (5-0-27-0) and John Crisp (6-2-25-0) continued to keep the run rate down and after 23 overs Newdigate were 82-3. Matt Gottschalk (10-1-35-4) and Jack Raimondo (7-1-36-1) continued the good bowling, helped by a solid fielding performance from all involved. Newdigate finally declared on 213-8 after Adam Cooke (3-0-27-0) and James Trower (4-0-25-0) finished off the 47 overs bowled by Stoke. Read more
