Oh dear, the wheels fell off in fairly spectacular fashion!
From the highs of Weybridge to the lows of Walton, nothing went right from the toss onwards.
A warm, humid, slightly overcast morning at SDCC, with the vague possibility of rain later on. The wicket was quite green and looked like it would assist the bowlers, especially with the new ball. Win the toss, field and chase a total was the right call. Read more

Johnny Lawes writes : “…In the Horsley & Send Under 9 Tournament played on Monday 31st May the boys did fantastically well in winning the plate final, (beating the winners of the main competition, Teddington, in the group stages.) They played 5 games throughout the day and I can’t name a man of the tournament as they all played well and each contributing with bat and ball. It was a long day but great fun and boys were a credit to the club.” Read more
After dismissing their hosts for 161 the Sunday XI made a promising start in reply but collapsed from 49 for no wicket to 119 all out.
Alex Bond led the Stoke bowling effort with 3 for 32 from ten overs. Rod Thomson, (2-15), took his first wickets for the club and there was a wicket each for Richie Parrett, Sam Bradford-Smith and 1st XI keeper batsman Tom Frost who would have taken notes on the stumping off his bowling by Rick Mustill! Mike Carty clubbed 52 and promising young bowlers Dom Lloyd and Alex Bond shared five wickets, but Stoke’s Sunday XI were defeated by the Badgers at the Rec for whom Jake Gordon, (4-41), and Mark Gordon, (57), starred for the visitors. Read more

Teenage pace bowler Alex Bond registered his maiden 5-for in Stoke whites and Tom Frost hit a career best 94. The visitors were indebted to Nick Benham who hit an unbeaten 113 to rescue the visitors from 119 for 6. Read more
Stoke’s sunday XI kicked off their season with a familiar away tie at Newdigate on Sunday 18th April. Having lost the toss Stoke were put into the field on a very sunny afternoon.
The two openers, Tom Frost and Alex Bond, both bowled well with figures of 6-2-12-1 and 6-1-18-2 respectively. First change pair of Andy Page (5-0-27-0) and John Crisp (6-2-25-0) continued to keep the run rate down and after 23 overs Newdigate were 82-3. Matt Gottschalk (10-1-35-4) and Jack Raimondo (7-1-36-1) continued the good bowling, helped by a solid fielding performance from all involved. Newdigate finally declared on 213-8 after Adam Cooke (3-0-27-0) and James Trower (4-0-25-0) finished off the 47 overs bowled by Stoke. Read more
