Stoke D’Abernon Advent Calendar 2016 (16)

Sixteen different players appeared in what turned out to be a reduced Under 19 T20 Blast programme in 2016, availability savaged by injuries and holiday commitments. Nevertheless when the squad took the field they showed growth and learning that they took into their weekend longer format cricket. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won on Faster Scoring Rate

The fixture computer had a laugh at our expense, sending us to the furthest away ground for a 12 noon start, but on arrival the clubs played out three-quarters of a game to finish the League season; Stoke eventually winning on run-rate in a match that had similar duration to the 1st XI match. T20 Friendly
Sutton U17 147 for 8 (20 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 138 for 9 (20 Overs)
Sutton Under 17s won by 9 runs

Great relations between Stoke and Sutton were further enhanced as both Clubs got a game on despite Stoke not having enough Under 17s, (due to holidays), to play the original cup tie. The Stokers originally selected, (many well under the age of 17), were supplemented by some senior assistance from Rod, Ralphie and Charlie Thomas. Read more

Stoke didn’t do a lot wrong in this one but there was a lot of head-scratching after a solid batting performance and a positive declaration went unrewarded. Some days you just have to say well played to the opposition. Read more
