We were delighted to receive an invite from Chipstead after good availability meant we were able to advertise early for a fixture…although the ‘then unavailable’ jinx led to another late scramble to re-stock. It was all hands to the pump this week with injuries and Saturday schools cricket making populating an XI a challenge; but with some much appreciated assistance from players who would normally play Sunday XI matches plus help from the Over 40s squad a team of entirely over 40s/50s/60s played out a great game at the new 3rd XI venue. We gave ourselves the best chance of extending the season by getting availability in early enough to place and advert, and Blindley Heath called us up to say their original opposition had scratched. Invitation accepted. Whilst we had a problem of reducing the pool of available players down to an XI, the opposition were a couple short come Friday. Keen to keep the fixture going a late entry to the Stoke pool, Justin Jones, kindly agreed to play for the opposition…initially. Read more

The 3s had a bye week from league action, (as they do next week), but it’s a happy camp and there was demand to source a friendly fixture. We received a call from Epsom and off we went to a very nice out-ground. On arrival we found a good looking surface spiced up by overnight and morning rain but there was a shared will to play.
