Easy win over the Avorians to start the 2013 season

Will Gudgeon’s tenure as Stoke Captain began with an emphatic win over near neighbours Avorians.

Firstly big props to John Vaughan-Davies for getting a strip prepared as the pre-season weather did its worst at the wrong times during the week. The result was a pitch more than fit for play, but setting a severe test of batting technique; so it was something of a surprise that visiting skipper McLaughlin chose to bat first on winning the toss. Senior Awards Night Review – Will Gudge bags two

The Evening of Saturday 29th September saw a well attended Annual Awards evening.

We opened with awards for the younger players. Olly Trower picked up the Bob Willis Cup for the most improved player, Nico Spreeth was awarded the Derek Wellman Cup, (best player in the colts’ section), and Dan Douthwaite was announced as our Surrey Trust League Player of the Year. Read more

Adrian and Becca Married

Thursday 20th September 2012 saw the biggest fixture of the season so far as Adrian and Becca tied the knot.

Representatives of the Stoke Massive were at the evening do, by which time it was near impossible to get them in one picture together due to the number of guests they had to speak to. However we’ve managed to get them for few precious seconds individually with the following results… Read more

2nd XI end League campaign with defeat at Chipstead

Surrey Championship Division 4 – 2nd XI competition
Chipstead Coulsdon & Walcountians 2nd XI 181 all out (49.3 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 135 all out (41.1 overs)
Chipstead Coulsdon & Walcountians 2nd XI won by 46 runs

The same old story for Stoke’s second string. A committed bowling and fielding performance restricted Chipstead to 181 all out on a good pitch; highlights being a sensation catch in the deep by Tom Gudgeon and three catches at the wicket for Malcolm Dickson, who reached 100 career dismissals with the first of them. Sunday XI lose at North Holmwood

Stoke and North Holmwood met for the first time since 1998, (this used to be a Saturday September friendly but the lengthening of the Surrey League programme meant something had to give), and played out a well-spirited encounter. Read more

Stoke 2s recorded a confidence boosting win on Saturday at Chessington to take them above their opponents in the league table. Stand in skipper Pagie oversaw another lost toss, but this time we were asked to field first. Read more
