Rain Frustrates the Academy

Stoke’s final prepaprations for the Surrey Trust League were ruined by the rain as their prestige friendly match away to Wimbledon fell foul of the weather; completing a miserable double cancellation as the reverse fixture, scheduled for the 22nd April at Stoke, was also lost to the weather. Well done again on a comfortable victory against Ashtead yesterday evening. (Friday 25th May)

Stoke batted first and got off to a good start with openers Ollie B and Alex, and Ollie went on to score an undefeated 30. Skipper Tim F also retired after having knocked off 33 and Ollie J scored 17. After the 20 overs we had scored a very competitive 135. Read more

Only one fixture on Sunday

Regrettably we’ve had one of those weeks where availability has meant we have not been able to raise two sides this Sunday.

As a result the friendly match away to Ewhurst has been cancelled.

We have managed to find spaces for a few people in the Surrey Trust format friendly at Wimbledon. Read more

Stoke Molesey Girls win Surrey Under 13 Festival

First silverware for the Stoke Molesey Ladies section as Andy Page writes…

After the disappointment of rained-off fixtures, Stoke Molesey’s Ladies section finally got their season off to a winning start in the Surrey CCC organised U13 festival at Caterham CC on Sunday 27 May 2012. The weather was fabulous and all the hard work the girls had put in over the winter indoors and then in rain for the pre-season nets under Mark Packham’s excellent coaching paid off. Read more

Under 10s / Under 11s Round Up

A further round up of colts news…

Under 10s
Friday 25th May – League v Esher CC – lost by 5 runs

Johnny Lawes writes…

We won the toss on a sunny Friday night and batted first against a good bowling attack. The boys finished on 269, a good result especially given they lost 10 wickets in the process. To give away 40 runs like this needs some attention in training, and was the difference between the two sides. Tom, 20, Theo, 14 and Angus, 7, were the top scorers. In response the bowling and fielding were very competitive and we stayed in the game all the way to the last over. We were only able to take 4 wickets with Matt being the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 13 from his 3 overs. Unfortunately the pressure of bowling a tight last over was too much and Esher made it to 275 with their Surrey U10 player scoring 16 off the last over. We play the same side in the cup on Wednesday so I look forward to another close game. Many thanks to the helpers behind the bar and on the BBQ. Read more

Sunday XI defeat Giltec

Sunday Friendly
Giltec 134 all out
Stoke D’Abernon 135 for 3
Stoke D’Abernon won by 7 wickets

Stoke’s Sunday XI continued their unbeaten start to the season with a seven wicket win over Giltec.

Dan Gluckman took four wickets; Adrian Mills and Dom Lloyd two each, (Lloyd also effected a run out), and there was a first wicket in senior cricket for Dan Douthwaite, courtesy of an incredible diving catch from Rod Thomson, as the visitors didn’t make the best use of the strip Hiken Shah scored a ton on the previous day after winning the toss. Unbeaten Century for the Hik-Man as 1st XI defeat Godalming

Surrey Championship Division 5
Godalming 189 all out (49.1 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 190 for 4 (35.1 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 6 wickets

A majestic century from Hiken Shah backed up an efficient bowling display as a depleted Stoke side cruised to a six wicket win over Godalming at the Rec. The win was even more satisfying as Stoke’s strength in depth was put to the test with a number of absentees due to holidays, weddings, christenings and other commitments. Read more
