Just to let you know those members who have paid subscriptions and joined the club this year can collect their free club shirts, kindly provided by our sponsors JLT, from Jo at this Wednesday’s senior net training.
For those who have not yet paid their subs, forms are available in the club house. Subscriptions must be paid by the 30th April, otherwise there will be a £30 penalty charge for late payment.
After an opposition cry-off last week, Stoke D’Abernon’s 1st XI finally kicked off their 2010 season, and secured an eleven run victory at the Rec in a 40 over encounter over Ashtead’s 2nd XI that was played in a great spirit.
New Stoke skipper Siddhartha Lahiri won his first toss, and gave his openers Brian Berthoud and Will Patrick first use of the newly laid square. Steady progress was made against opening bowlers Morris and Neil-Hall, Morris’s first five overs yielding just four runs; but the breakthrough came in the 7th over when Patrick turned for a second run only to find Berthoud having settled for a single and was lost to a run out for just 5.
Half centuries for Steve Wade, (72no), Andy Page, (53); and three wickets for Peter Phipps; but Stoke’s 2nd XI were unable to defend their total of 232 for 7 at Southern Railway & Kenley.

Further to my March Newsletter, (http://sdacc.play-cricket.com/content/view.asp?id=10278971&cid=200), I am writing to remind you that the Clubmark Presentation Evening is happening this Friday!
The following will happen:
– Alec Stewart will be joining us to present the Clubmark certificate, answer questions and support the auction of cricketing memorabilia

Alec Stewart will be joining us to present the certificate, answer questions, sign autographs and help with the auction of cricketing memorabilia. (Thank you, Duncan Howorth!)
The evening will commence at 6.45pm with free drinks and nibbles. Approximate timings will be as follows:
Stoke’s sunday XI kicked off their season with a familiar away tie at Newdigate on Sunday 18th April. Having lost the toss Stoke were put into the field on a very sunny afternoon.
The two openers, Tom Frost and Alex Bond, both bowled well with figures of 6-2-12-1 and 6-1-18-2 respectively. First change pair of Andy Page (5-0-27-0) and John Crisp (6-2-25-0) continued to keep the run rate down and after 23 overs Newdigate were 82-3. Matt Gottschalk (10-1-35-4) and Jack Raimondo (7-1-36-1) continued the good bowling, helped by a solid fielding performance from all involved. Newdigate finally declared on 213-8 after Adam Cooke (3-0-27-0) and James Trower (4-0-25-0) finished off the 47 overs bowled by Stoke.
Dear all,
Unfortunately we have not been able to arrange a replacement match for tomorrow, but we will take this opportunity to have an outdoor training session at Stoke instead.
We will start at 12.30pm and finish at 2.30pm. Any player wishing to be considered for selection for the 1st XI/2nd XI/Trust League/Sunday XIs is encouraged to attend.
