I took a call this afternoon, (Thursday 21st), explaining that Brook could not muster a team last week and are in the same situation this week. In fact they may be unable to fulfil their remaining fixtures due to availability and other club ‘issues.’
News from Johnny Lawes, (Under 10s)…
Friday 15th June – League v Oxshott CC – won by 57 runs
We batted first and scored 299 for the loss of 7 wickets. This is a huge improvement in the batting and hopefully reflecting in the boys valuing their wickets more. We did have 4 run outs so clearer and quicker calling still required. Everyone contributed this time with some good partnerships. Harry – 11, Jack – 12, Jamie – 14 and Tom – 31 were the top scorers.

We played top of the table Wimbledon on Sunday 17th at Parkside in the Mid Surrey League. Jack H won the toss and elected to bat first. Ben and Ryan opened patientlyagainst some tight bowling; Ryan was undone by a great ball for 6. Jack H

Skipper Elliot J won the toss and elected to field first. Claygate put on a very competitive score of 135 for 4 from their 20 overs, but this was greatly assisted by some poor fielding and bowling on our part, (63 extras!) Rory C took 2 for 7 off 2 overs and Jack T 1 for 6 off 2.

Stoke D’Abernon won by 7 wickets
Jase Earl and Malcolm Dickson starred with ball and bat respectively as Stoke’s Sunday XI scored a commanding victory over Newdigate in a 10-a-side contest, both sides feeling the pinch in resources due to Fathers’ Day and the need to fulfil an additional Surrey Trust League fixture.

Stoke D’Abernon 161 all out (32.2 overs)
Purley won by 37 runs
Despite not having their first choice Surrey Trust League side available for selection, Stoke put up a brave fight against a strong Purley side, restricting them to just 198 for 7 in their allotted 40 overs; Ian Hopton, (3-54), and Matt Gottschalk, (2-16), leading the way with the ball. Hopton’s first wicket was his 100th career Stoke scalp.

Sanderstead 184 for 7 dec (49.5 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 124 all out (36.2 overs)
Sanderstead won by 60 runs
Stoke’s 1st XI fell to a home defeat to promotion chasing Sanderstead at the Rec.
Having inserted the visitors on a damp pitch after winning the toss, Donovan Hall, (1-22), was the only one of the quartet of seam bowlers to taste success, dismissing Wallbank for 6.

With yet another availability crisis to contend with, a patched up Stoke 2nd XI, completed only an hour or so before the toss, made their longest trip of the season to Dulwich to take on Alleyn & Honor Oak.
