Stoke 2s win a thriller at Old Pauline

This is the third time these two sides have played each other recently and the third thrilling finish. This time last year, Falcon lead us to a 2 wicket win with an unbeaten 83. Last August Old Paulines sneaked home by 1 wicket with 3 balls to spare. Today, Stoke scraped the tightest of wins by just a single wicket, again with 3 balls to spare. Read more

Narrow T20 defeat at Premiership Sunbury

Surrey Championship T20 – Round 2

Sunbury 125 for 9 (20 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 115 for 6 (20 overs)

Sunbury won by 10 runs

Under 17s brought back to earth by Walton-on-Thames

Tim Dyer writes…

Oh dear, the wheels fell off in fairly spectacular fashion!

From the highs of Weybridge to the lows of Walton, nothing went right from the toss onwards.

A warm, humid, slightly overcast morning at SDCC, with the vague possibility of rain later on. The wicket was quite green and looked like it would assist the bowlers, especially with the new ball. Win the toss, field and chase a total was the right call. Read more

Valiant Ladies lose to Blackheath

From Stoke’s perspective, Sunday’s match represented in equal measure the frustration and the joy of league cricket, rolled into the ‘wacky’ package of a potential table-topping clash between Blackheath and SDCC.

The availability of Stoke’s players for this important match was ravaged by the combination of county cricket and A level revison. For inexplicable reasons, Surrey CCC decided to book matches for every girl’s age group in the county and, in so doing, decimated the squads of the stronger clubs, including Stoke. Read more

Stoke 2s record 4th consecutive win

Matt won the toss and elected to bat on a warm and muggy day. Ali Mac and Steve saw us off to a solid start and the run rate was good at 4.5 per over. Steve in particular was punishing anything with width and hit 9 boundaries on his way to 41. Having seen the opening bowlers off, the change bowlers started to slow the run rate. Steve had looked certain to record a half century, but came down the track to Nasir and found himself stumped for 41. Read more
