Awards Night Review

A good attendance at HQ last Saturday for the Annual Awards, despite the weather and other commitments, eg. overseas cricket commitments, university, dinners, holidays…

Fresh from celebrating their Championship at the Brit Oval the previous evening, the 2nd XI carried on and MC Drew Patrick made another formal presentation of the shield to 2nd XI captain Matt Gottschalk. Whilst on his feet, Matt was also given back the Australia Cup for the best overall contribution to the 2nd XI, having won the player’s vote last year as well. Read more

People may have seen my significant other/cricket widow Julie pounding the streets in preparation for her first go at the Great North Run, often running home from HQ leaving me to Surrey Championship & Trust League commitments and net practice. Read more

Fixtures and Ground Update

An update from Drew:

As anticipated in my previous note, I am sorry to confirm that we won’t be able to use the square this weekend, courtesy of the water repairs which will occur on Saturday and Sunday.

There was no fixture Saturday, and we will look to see if Claygate can accomodate us at their ground on Sunday. If they already have a home fixture, we will seek an alternative. Read more

With no Saturday fixture this week, Stoke’s Sunday XI took centre stage and recorded a second successive victory on a sunny afternoon at Ewhurst who kindly stepped in with the offer of a 40-over match after Stoke’s original opponents, Dorking, were unable to fulfil the fixture. Read more
