Stoke’s second string made short work of Old Hamptonians for the second time this season, finishing matters before 3pm with a six wicket victory.

1st XI record highest ever finish despite last day defeat at Dorking

Surrey Championship Division 5

Stoke D’Abernon 99 all out (30.1 overs)

Dorking, (10 points), beat Stoke D’Abernon, (0 points), by 107 runs

Both sides went into this match needing to win and rely on results elsewhere to move up the table and it was Dorking who did everything they could do for themselves as they won by 107 runs to save themselves from relegation. Stoke’s disappointing defeat in the end was academic as Farncombe got the required victory to clinch the second promotion spot.

Stoke D’Abernon, (9 points), beat Godalming, (0 points), by 10 runs

Just one place separated the sides in the table before the start of play, and the excellent contest that wasn’t decided until the final over was reflective of how well the sides, both missing first choice players, were matched. Stoke’s marginally better strength in depth on the day proved decisive in a tremendous advertisement for the division and the spirit of cricket.

Stoke D’Abernon won by 278 runs

Amy Page, (107), and Sophie Pout, (118 not out), both smashed centuries and shared a 3rd wicket stand of 202 as the Stoke ladies racked up 323 runs for the loss of just four wickets in their allotted 40 overs.
