For the third year running, CIMA sponsored a tour to the UK for twelve up and coming Canadian cricketers. Stoke’s run to the Surrey Championship T20 Finals Day last year meant a postponement of the inaugural fixture, but the teams met for a Tuesday morning match at the Stoke Rec for a highly entertaining game, followed by a lunch before the tourists set off for an afternoon match against Wimbledon.

Home semi-final against Dulwich in the Surrey Trust League

Stoke have won the coin toss for home advantage and will host Dulwich at the Rec this coming Sunday, (22nd), in their third Plate semi-final in four years.

Chipstead Coulsdon and Walcountians, (9 points), beat Stoke D’Abernon, (0 points), by 5 runs

Stoke’s slim chances of promotion from Division 5 were finally ended by a torrential downpour mid-way through their run chase leaving them six runs short of the requisite total after 22.2 overs. At the same time, the ‘win’ points gained by Chipstead were enough to secure them a deserved promotion of their own.

Stoke in International T20 Action on Tuesday 17th August, 11am start

We are pleased to announce that we have arranged a T20 fixture against the CIMA Toronto Mayor’s XI for Tuesday 17th August as part of their 2010 tour to the UK.

The Toronto Mayor’s XI will be in London from August 14th to August 23rd, and this is their third annual UK tour. Their tour co-ordinator is Ranil Mendis and their squad is made up of 16-22 year old Asian and Caribbean Canadians…with a bus driver supplied by Chessington CC!

Stoke’s Sunday XI lost a thriller at the Rec with all results possible on the final ball.

The visitors chose to bat and registered a total of 207 for 6 from their 40 overs. Brothers Richie and Robbie Parrett appeared in a Stoke side together for the first time since July 2009, and each took two wickets; Richie taking bragging rights with 2 for 33 versus 2 for 45 in their allotted eight over spells. There was a wicket each for Adam Cooke and Rod Thomson. Gregory top scored with 70.
