Sunday 27th February 2011 saw a well attended Annual General meeting at HQ.
Thanks to those who attended given the that it was half-term week and the India v England World Cup match was on at the same time.
Further to our earlier news item, Philip Jansen was confirmed as our new President. Philip spoke to the assembled audience, and spent much time after the meeting speaking individually to those who stayed behind. I am writing to confirm that our Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday 27th February 2011 in our clubhouse, commencing at 12.00pm.
Below are links to the agenda, the minutes from last year’s meeting, and a short ‘Bio’ on Philip Jansen. Philip has been selected by your committee as the preferred candidate to fill the vacant Post of Club President. He has agreed to do the job for 3 years and will provide excellent external advice and support for me and the committee, as we embark on the ambitious project to improve and extend our pavilion at a cost of approximately £180,000. Philip will attend the AGM and his appointment is subject to approval by our members, so please try to attend and support his selection. Read more
The first social event of 2011, a club dinner at Parkside to help commence fundraising for the clubhouse extension, was a trememdous success. Our thanks to all those who turned up on a cold evening; buying raffle tickets, bidding for the items in the auction and contributing to the bar. Read more
On Sunday 30th January Will P took part in the Tough Guy event to raise money for the Help for Heroes charirty.
Bfore the event started the organisers were using chainsaws to break the ice on the water! News has just come in that he completed the course in 2 hours 40 minutes, although he has not yet recovered any feeling in his body! Approximately 6000 people took part and was last seen in line for his nude rub-down by a team of female volunteers! Read more
Senior Nets will commence Sunday 30th January at Parkside School Sports Hall starting at 7pm and finishing at 9pm.
The cost will be £8 per person for the 2 hour session. These sessions will run for 5 weeks ending February 27th.
It is hoped we will be able to book lanes at the George Abbott Sports Hall, Guildford for the 4 weeks in March, again these will be 2 hour sessions on Sunday evenings starting at 7pm but this has yet to be confirmed. Read more
SDCC Chaiman Drew Patrick has some outstanding news…
I am delighted to confirm that our club dinner will take place at Parkside School on Saturday 29th January 2011.
Tickets will be sold at £45 each and we are asking people to book tables of 12, 10 or 8 so please organise a table with your friends. The dress code will be jacket and tie for men and appropriate dress for women. Read more
The evening will start at 7.00pm with drinks from a cash bar. Dinner will be served at approximately 7.45pm, (note these are earlier times than originally advertised), and live music will be provided by the highly-regarded former Surrey and England batsman Mark Butcher and The Extra Covers Band.
The 2011 Surrey Championship Fixtures have been released.
The 1st XI start with overs matches against the two clubs promoted from the Fuller’s League; Merrow and Oxted & Limpsfield. The latest SDCC Golf Day was postponed due to snow on the course. (No orange ball in golf, then!)
