Under 9s – Latest

More news from Johnny Lawes and his Management Team…

Saturday 3rd July – Gladys Chitty League v Teddington

Lost by 36 runs.

Many thanks to Duncan Stewart for running this and his report is as follows:

Having lost the toss, Stoke were put in to bat, and got off to a great start through Jack and Matthew, Jack in particular hitting some lovely fours, and ultimately top scoring.  Zach and Harry capitalised on this with a great second pair partnership, with Harry also hitting three fours.  A mid-innings collapse of sorts saw 5 cheap wickets go down pegging back our score, although a couple of good shots from Rory and Thomas got us to a respectable 264 against some pretty accurate bowling from bowlers who definitely didn’t look Under 8 – I will be asking for birth certificate proof next time!

Many thanks to those of you who came down to the club on Friday night to spend some money and enjoy the evening sun with a beer or two!

You will be delighted to hear that we raised a whopping £1,450 from the stalls, games, bar and BBQ.  As you know this money will be put towards the cost of the synthetic wicket, leaving us with a very achievable £1,500 balance to hit our target.

Sunday XI run Ashtead close in thriller

Whilst Spain and Holland served up 120 minutes of dross, Sunday XI skipper Stephen Finch has news of a more exciting event…

“…A great game against Ashtead today, really showing what Sunday cricket is all about.

Ashtead won the toss, decided to bat, scored 271, one player got a hundred. Our star bowler was James Trower who bowled his longest ever spell, 18 overs for good figures, really restraining the runs. Star fielder was Ben Dunjay who stopped countless fours on the deep extra cover boundary and also a great catch to stop a six.
