Santa Claus at Stoke HQ at 6pm on Saturday 4th December

OK, we start this article with an obvious statement – CHRISTMAS IS COMING SOON – and we have an important visitor coming to the Stoke Rec.

Santa will be taking time out from his busy schedule to pay a visit to HQ at 6pm on Saturday 4th December 2010, so in addition to asking him for your Stoke Hoodie, (See News link – http://www.stokecc.co.uk/news/?p=1391), you can also register your other present requests and have a beer in the clubhouse bar, (which will be open from 5.30pm)…and all for a small donation to the community’s Christmas Lights fund.

Sunday 28th November – Extraordinary General Meeting

Dear Member,

I am writing to notify you of an Extraordinary General Meeting which will be held in our Clubhouse on Sunday 28th November, starting at 12.00pm.

The purpose of the meeting is to approve changes to the club constitution, which, if approved, will result in SDCC being granted CASC status by HM Revenue and Customs.

CASC stands for ‘Community Amateur Sports Club Scheme’ and will enable our club to claim Gift Aid on all future donations and/or fundraising gifts. In addition, Elmbridge Borough Council will grant us 80% relief on our Council Tax, (compared with the current discretionary relief of 70%)

The changes to our constitution are highlighted in red on the attached document. The Licensing Officer at Elmbridge Borough Council has approved the draft changes and HM Revenue and Customs have confirmed that they will backdate approval of the award of CASC status to the date of the EGM, as soon as they have received a copy of the minutes from me.

This is a great opportunity to secure future funds for the club. We will be able to claim 28p from the taxman for every £1 collected in donations at fundraising events etc and we will also be able to further reduce our Council Tax bill.

I do not expect the meeting to last more than 30 minutes and the bar will be open. Please try to attend and vote for these important changes.

Many thanks

Drew Patrick
