2s complete spectacular win at Old Emanuel

Surrey Championship Division 4 – 2nd XI competition
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 110 all out (38 overs)
Old Emanuel 87 all out (32.2 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 23 runs

With the division as tight as it is this year, this was the sort of game that is very important to win and today Stoke 2s put in the sort of performance that had previously earned us our place in this division. After struggling with the bat again we bowled and fielded brilliantly, (and refused to give up), to win a game we had no right to win at tea.

Fri 1st July – League v Leatherhead (Home). Lost by 17 runs

Stoke lost the toss and fielded first against a strong Leatherhead side. They scored 288 for the loss of only 5 wickets, 2 to  Patrick and 1 to Max, Harry S and Tom. 18 wides, (36 extra runs), did not help our cause and a shame on what was otherwise a good all round performance.

Adrian Taylor selected for and hits 53 for the Surrey Academy

Congratulations to Adrian Taylor on his selection for the Surrey Academy.

In his first, (of two), matches against Berkshire 2nd XI, Berkshire posted 254 off 50 overs.

Adrian batted at No.2 and was 53 not out, (as was his partner), as drinks were taken at 125 after 25 overs of the reply. Sadly, Adrian was leg before off the first ball he faced after the resumption. The other opener was then out two balls later.
