Fixtures and Ground Update

An update from Drew:

As anticipated in my previous note, I am sorry to confirm that we won’t be able to use the square this weekend, courtesy of the water repairs which will occur on Saturday and Sunday.

There was no fixture Saturday, and we will look to see if Claygate can accomodate us at their ground on Sunday. If they already have a home fixture, we will seek an alternative.

Friendly Match

Ewhurst 156 all out (38.1 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 159 for 7 (26 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon won by 3 wickets

With no Saturday fixture this week, Stoke’s Sunday XI took centre stage and recorded a second successive victory on a sunny afternoon at Ewhurst who kindly stepped in with the offer of a 40-over match after Stoke’s original opponents, Dorking, were unable to fulfil the fixture.

Surrey Championship Division 5 – 2nd XI competition

Old Hamptionians 2nd XI  85 all out (26.3 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 87 for 4 (23.3 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI, (10 points), beat Old Hamptionians 2nd XI, (0 points), by 6 wickets

Stoke’s second string made short work of Old Hamptonians for the second time this season, finishing matters before 3pm with a six wicket victory.

1st XI record highest ever finish despite last day defeat at Dorking

Surrey Championship Division 5

Dorking 206 for 9 (50 overs)

Stoke D’Abernon 99 all out (30.1 overs)

Dorking, (10 points), beat Stoke D’Abernon, (0 points), by 107 runs

Both sides went into this match needing to win and rely on results elsewhere to move up the table and it was Dorking who did everything they could do for themselves as they won by 107 runs to save themselves from relegation. Stoke’s disappointing defeat in the end was academic as Farncombe got the required victory to clinch the second promotion spot.
