The SDCC 2011 Under 18 season finally got under way last Sunday morning v Ashtead CC. The start of the season signalled the end of the British summer and a grey, cold, overcast morning welcomed SDCC to the Headley CC ground. The recent lack of rain was very evident. The wicket was almost devoid of grass and very dusty, while the outfield was barely green, uneven and very fast. The Headley ground is quite small, so potentially a high scoring match was in the offing.

Sunday 29th May 2011 v Weybridge Vandals
After some late drop outs the team to play Vandals was riddled with changes; Ed took the captaincy, Max, Alex and Ed F all stepped up from the under 15s to complete the team. The day started well from Stoke’s perspective, punctual arrivals from our team meant Stoke were ready to start play at the agreed time with the Vandals struggling with a only a few players.
