Dear Member, Read more
I am writing to notify you of an Extraordinary General Meeting which will be held in our Clubhouse on Sunday 28th November, starting at 12.00pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to approve changes to the club constitution, which, if approved, will result in SDCC being granted CASC status by HM Revenue and Customs.
CASC stands for ‘Community Amateur Sports Club Scheme’ and will enable our club to claim Gift Aid on all future donations and/or fundraising gifts. In addition, Elmbridge Borough Council will grant us 80% relief on our Council Tax, (compared with the current discretionary relief of 70%)
The changes to our constitution are highlighted in red on the attached document. The Licensing Officer at Elmbridge Borough Council has approved the draft changes and HM Revenue and Customs have confirmed that they will backdate approval of the award of CASC status to the date of the EGM, as soon as they have received a copy of the minutes from me.
This is a great opportunity to secure future funds for the club. We will be able to claim 28p from the taxman for every £1 collected in donations at fundraising events etc and we will also be able to further reduce our Council Tax bill.
I do not expect the meeting to last more than 30 minutes and the bar will be open. Please try to attend and vote for these important changes.

Ian Hopton’s domestic competition commenced last week and he has done well with bat and ball according to the, (unofficial), Western Province site:
“The 2-day league has officially kicked off, with 4 of the 5 sides playing home at the moment. Matthew King’s WPCC played against a very strong Police outfit on the YMCA. They batted first and put on a competitive 227, with captain King getting to 40, with support from Glen Huddy on 30 and an all round performance from Ian Hopton who scored 33 not out and picked up 4-27 in his bowling stint. New boy Joe Brawne also picked up 3 wickets on debut. WPCC will go into day two with a 47 run lead after bowling out the Police group for 180.” Read more
Our traditional Autumn quiz night will take place our clubhouse on Friday 19th November 2010. Peter Andrew has very graciously agreed, (again!), to be our quizmaster and will set questions from the usual wide range of subjects and events. The bar will be open from 7.30pm and the quiz will commence at 8.00pm. We will break for a fish and chip supper at approximately 9.00pm and we should be finished by 10.30pm. Read more

…but the biggest development has been the installation of the new Artificial Pitch… Read more
