On Saturday and Sunday – on the same strip – a Stoke XI won by one wicket, registering a total of 113 for 9 in response to a visiting team’s total of 112 all out. Even more spookily, Stoke faced 31.2 overs on both days!

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 23 runs

With the division as tight as it is this year, this was the sort of game that is very important to win and today Stoke 2s put in the sort of performance that had previously earned us our place in this division. After struggling with the bat again we bowled and fielded brilliantly, (and refused to give up), to win a game we had no right to win at tea.

Update on the Under 9s from Johnny Lawes and his team…

Fri 1st July – League v Leatherhead (Home). Lost by 17 runs

Stoke lost the toss and fielded first against a strong Leatherhead side. They scored 288 for the loss of only 5 wickets, 2 to  Patrick and 1 to Max, Harry S and Tom. 18 wides, (36 extra runs), did not help our cause and a shame on what was otherwise a good all round performance.
