Sunday 5th August 2018
Surrey Trust League
Godalming 320 for 9 (40 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 281 all out (38.4 overs)
Godalming won by 39 runs

A much-changed Academy side from the one defeated two weeks ago was unable to reverse that result, and came second in a boundary hitting competition on another hot afternoon. The match aggregate of 601 runs was the highest in any Trust League match Stoke have played in. Read more

Carel left stranded as Academy learn the hard way

Sunday 22nd July 2018
Surrey Trust League
Godalming 288 for 7 (40 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 188 all out (29.5 overs)
Godalming won by 100 runs

Whilst the scorecard doesn’t lie a lot of good things could still be taken out of this one and if some of the errors can be ironed out between now and the return fixture on the 5th August hopefully we will see a reversal of this result and progress up the table. Read more

Trust League defeat at Walton

Sunday 24th June 2018
Surrey Trust League
Stoke D’Abernon 186 all out (32.4 overs)
Walton-on-Thames 187 for 6 (32.4 overs)
Walton-on-Thames won by 4/(2?) wickets

While England were hitting Panama for six in Russia, before the World Cup draw was made last winter the Trust League fixture computer got in first and allocated us fixture at Walton-on-Thames. Will T and the Team Sec worked tirelessly through the week to assemble an XI. Thanks to all those who helped with an appearance – we had no game without you. The opposition had an U21 AND a Development Trust XI team to find(!) and with priority going to the U21 League Stoke faced a team of nine. Read more

Last Over ‘Win’ for the ‘Academy’

Sunday 17th June 2018
Surrey Trust League
Stoke D’Abernon 241 for 8 (40 overs)
Horsley & Send 236 all out (39.2 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 5 runs

Planning for Sunday took a strange direction this week as having previously e-mailed to say they would not be able to play a Trust League fixture on this date, (copy e-mail available on request!), when contacting the opposition to re-arrange they came back saying they had a team. As people know we play nice and rather than enforce a result we scrambled an XI together, ruining any chance of a Sunday XI friendly for some but paid-up members from that squad were offered the chance. Those who declined or were unable missed out on a tremendous game. Read more

Narrow Trust League Defeat for the Academy

Surrey Trust Development League
Walton-on-Thames 194 all out (36.2 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 186 for 9 (40 overs)
Walton-on-Thames won by 8 runs

Stoke suffered a narrow defeat in their opening Trust League match of the year in a game they were well placed to win at drinks during the chase, then seemingly out of it five overs later, but then almost pulling off the improbable with Club competition record 9th and 10th wicket partnerships. Trust League Defeat to Dulwich / Under 19 T20 News

Sunday 13th August 2017
Surrey Trust League
Stoke D’Abernon 186 all out (36.4 overs)
Dulwich 189 for 3 (37.2 overs)
Dulwich won by 7 wickets

Stoke went into their final zonal match unable to qualify for either of the semi-final competitions, but they had a direct influence on the final positions in the table as a win over leaders Dulwich would have opened the door for the winners of the Ashtead v Wimbledon match to top the group. (Wimbledon actually conceded that match!) Read more

Learning Experience for Weak Academy XI

Sunday 9th July 2017
Surrey Trust League
Stoke D’Abernon 125 all out (36.3 overs)
Reigate Priory 126 for 1 (21.3 overs)
Reigate Priory won by 9 wickets

It would be an understatement to say that this weekend’s selection and finalising teams was like herding cats, (great book of the same name for those who may care to read it, by the way), and Stoke’s Academy bore the brunt yesterday, running into a different herd, one of llamas in Reigate, and did their best with limited resources.
