“…A first win against Thames Ditton CC in the Under 9s league. Thames Ditton batted first and were held to 219 with some excellent bowling and fielding. Alfie Broomfield and Tom Lawes picking up 2 wickets each, direct hit run outs from Alfie and Oscar Jensen, (twice), and wides and no-balls restricted to single figures. In return Stoke scored 262 with the boys only losing 2 wickets. Charlie Neat and Ollie Muir started the innings with a partnership of 16 and were followed by Oscar top scoring with 13. Read more

Clubmark Certificate presentation by Alec Stewart

Alec Stewart was the guest of honour at Stoke D’Abernon Cricket Club on Friday 23rd April at an evening event which was attended by more than 60 members. The occasion marked the formal presentation of Stoke’s Clubmark certificate by Alec to Stoke’s Chairman, Drew Patrick, and members were given the opportunity to hear about the ambitious development plans for the club. Adult Subscriptions Due – £30 increase if not paid by the end of the month!!!!

Dear Adult Members,

Just to let you know those members who have paid subscriptions and joined the club this year can collect their free club shirts, kindly provided by our sponsors JLT, from Jo at this Wednesday’s senior net training.

For those who have not yet paid their subs, forms are available in the club house. Subscriptions must be paid by the 30th April, otherwise there will be a £30 penalty charge for late payment. Read more

1st XI start with win over Ashtead

After an opposition cry-off last week, Stoke D’Abernon’s 1st XI finally kicked off their 2010 season, and secured an eleven run victory at the Rec in a 40 over encounter over Ashtead’s 2nd XI that was played in a great spirit.

New Stoke skipper Siddhartha Lahiri won his first toss, and gave his openers Brian Berthoud and Will Patrick first use of the newly laid square. Steady progress was made against opening bowlers Morris and Neil-Hall, Morris’s first five overs yielding just four runs; but the breakthrough came in the 7th over when Patrick turned for a second run only to find Berthoud having settled for a single and was lost to a run out for just 5.
