My Greatest XI – Tom Frost

One of our golden generation turns 30 today!

When not doing his bit for World Peace in Somalia and other parts of the world, Frosty has taken time out to pen this for your enjoyment:

Here is my submission for my greatest Stoke XI:

1. Jack Raimondo
I know, I know an opening batsman who is scared of fast bowling!? But I have seen Mr Prawn – the self-confessed ‘closet six footer’ – score more runs and more match winning innings than almost anyone else. This added to his, (ahem), social contribution and the fact that we used to played rugby together from the age of 4 means that he is a shoe-in to open the batting in this team. Read more

Century for Jase in Big Win for the Sunday XI

Sunday 26th May 2019
Friendly
Stoke D’Abernon 233 for 7 (40 overs)
Badgers 116 all out (34.3 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 117 runs

A big and morale boosting win for Stoke’s Sunday XI as the batting line up, boosted by a bit of senior assistance from Jase Earl, racked up a formidable total; then a bowling attack that could easily have gone out together in the previous day’s League fixture were any of them available did a great job as a unit. Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 219 all out (47.1 overs)
Kingstonian 2nd XI 212 for 8 (36.1 overs)
Kingstonian 2nd XI won by 2 wickets

One that got away from the 2s as they batted themselves into a great position only to lose a cluster of wickets when well set; then they had the opposition seven down with 45 still needed but a belligerent number nine smashed off the rest. Read more

Great wins for the Under 10s and Under 11s

Sunday 19th May 2019
Mid-Surrey Colts League Under 10 Cup – Round 1
Spencer U10 99 all out (16.1 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon U10 99 for 9 (20 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon U10 won by losing fewer wickets

What a game! All of the boys were just magnificent. Spencer have one of the largest if not the largest colts sections in Surrey and it is no mean feat to put them into second place. A fantastic TEAM effort from all of the boys and everyone contributed to bring the game to a last over/last ball nail biter! Read more

Maori Oxshott won by 4 wickets

A marked improvement on last week’s performance for the Sunday XI.

In the end the team were left to rue a shortage of runs again, but they made Oxshott work very hard for the win, and it took three of their players to register career best scores to get the job done. Read more
